It’s fun, that’s why. And, the fact that the furniture originates from wood that would otherwise rot is a good thing. That the pieces I build remind me of the places where I found the wood – places in the middle of nowhere – is another good thing. That they represent something that is – to me anyway – functional and beautiful and naturally imperfect is, again, a good thing.

It’s not perfect. It’s not supposed to be. People who like Lyle Lovett’s face understand what I’m talking about.
